Narcissus is an original, evening-length contemporary ballet by Christopher Williams set to Nikolai Tcherepnin's score composed in 1911 for the Ballets Russes. The work reappropriates themes of the eponymous Greek myth on which it is based to re-envision the original ballet through contemporary queer lens.
The creation works in progress and is currently scheduled to premiere at New York Live Arts from 28-31 October 2020.
● Costume designs and set by Andrew Jordan
● Lighting by Joe Levasseur
● Dancers: Casey Hess, Gildas Lemmonier, Alexander Olivieri,
Logan Pedon, and Joshua Tuason
The creation was supported in part by a commission from New York Live Arts’ Live Feed Residency program, Rockefeller Brothers Fund, National Endowment for the Arts, New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, Stavros Niarchos Foundation, and the Partners for New Performance.
